I’ve been a Tennessee Titans fan since before the Titans were the Titans. When they first moved to Nashville, the Titans were known as the Tennessee Oilers. I don’t know if you remember or not, but the first year the Titans played in what is now Nissan Stadium, the stadium was named Adelphia Coliseum. The year was 1999 and the Tennessee Titans were pretty good that first year at Adelphia. In fact, they went to the Super Bowl and Tennessee Titans fans have been spoiled ever since. We thought we would go back to the Super Bowl every year or at least every other year. I exaggerate a little bit, but the Titans are so bad this year it makes me realize we Titan fans, me included, took good football for granted. As this year’s team keeps creating new ways to lose, it makes us long for just mediocre football! I never thought I would see the day, but with the Titans and Predators being as bad as they are this year, it seems the Vanderbilt Commodores are the talk of the Nashville sports market and as a long suffering Vandy fan, I can promise you I never took that one for granted! As I sit and think about the Titans debacle this year, it makes me start pondering. I wonder how much of our life we take for granted. At the risk of sharing too much information, one of the side effects of the chemo pill I take twice a day is constipation. In nine months of taking this pill, I haven’t had to deal with this side effect until the past couple of weeks. After having dealt with the “Big C” for the past several days, I realized I took not having to deal with it for granted! Buit that’s not all I take for granted. In the morning, when I turn the ignition key in my truck, I assume it will start. Even before I try to start my truck in the morning, I assume I will feel good enough to get out of bed first. But before I get out of bed, I assume I will open my eyes and wake up in the morning. If we aren’t careful, we will find ourselves taking our whole life for granted. We serve an Awesome God who blesses us in so many different ways. Let’s work on being thankful and let’s work on taking advantage of the time and blessings we are given. Today in our world, nearly 180,000 people will die. I wonder what their plans were for tomorrow.
Be blessed and then go be a blessing . . . Bro. Andy
